PDNC
has available an Information Technology Centre (IT) housing 30 computers connected to the Internet. These computers can be used to link to
Centerlink's extensive online database of job vacancies and numerous
other job search sites. PDNC IT Centre is an invaluable job search
resource. Job applications can be searched and applied for online
by simply emailing directly to potential employers.
PDNC aims to provide a large selection
of programs, courses, and activities: such as the netgame room,
childcare, adult education and support to families and military
members. The PDNC has become a firm favourite among the Defence
and the local community at Puckapunyal because of the diverse range
of programs and activities offered.
Part
of the PDNC is the Information Technology Centre. The centre is
equipped with 30 computers and provides computer training, Local
Area Networking, Internet, games and Open Learning through TAFE.
Just some of the other activities the PDNC offers includes; ballet,
dog obedience classes, swimming lessons, volleyball, model rail,
touch football, craft, patchwork, tumble tots, Occasional Child
Care and dance classes to name but a few. These activities change
from year to year depending on availability of monitors.
The
PDNC is a friendly and relaxed environment with a strong community
focus. The PDNC acts as a vast and extensive source of information
within the Puckapunyal area, as well as hosting and organising a
wide range of services and activities themselves. Programs currently
held at the Centre include ballet classes, deep water running, war
games, dance classes, model rail club, childrens activities
group, water aerobics, dog obedience classes, tumble tots, swimming
lessons and volleyball. Some of the Courses on offer during your
posting may include First Aid Training, Asthma Awareness, Computer
for Beginners & Intermediate and MYOB. These programs change
from year to year depending on the availability of monitors.
Largely staffed by volunteers, the PDNC always welcomes new faces.
Volunteers who have skills or talents in particular areas monitor
many of the programs; if you have a particular talent you would
like to share with other families within Puckapunyal, please contact
the PDNC.
The Centre is located in Labuan Street, Puckapunyal and is open
Monday to Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and can be contacted on (03)

The PDNC is coordinated by Mrs. Jenny Oakley and employs up to
three additional childcare staff. Always approachable, Jenny Oakley
is an enviable source of information about facilities and activities
within both the Puckapunyal and surrounding area.
The PDNC also provides a number of health services to members and
their families. Acting as a base for mobile services within the
Pucka area, the PDNC is home to the Maternal and Child Health Nurse,
Family Day Care and Immunisation. The PDNC also holds prevention
courses such as Asthma Awareness and First Aid Training. For further
